Well, summer is here and I will be gone! Off to Spain for some much needed R&R! The summer is typically slow for me for art related events as I try not to schedule things that might conflict with travel! I just found out that one of my mosaics was juried into a group show in Long Beach at Second City Council starting the end of June and running for a month. I spent the day in LA yesterday shopping the garment district and boy did I find a LOT of treasures for future mosaics! Now I just need some time to do the mosaics....the story of my life. Hope everyone has a wonderful summer.....

Happy Cinco de Mayo from Santa Fe! Having a wonderful time, just spent the day touring Georgia O'Keefe's homes in Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch...very inspiring and easy to see why so many artists settled in this area. I can't wait to get back in my studio and start working on a few new pieces! Things are winding down as I get closer to summer.I have a few upcoming teaching engagements and will be teaching a Shadowbox Shrine class at Stamping Details on June 6th. I currently have work in an exhibit in Minneapolis, if you are in the area, let me know and I will pass on the details!

Wow, it has been a crazy couple of weeks, I have yet to catch my breath! The SAMA conference in San Diego rocked! Many thanks to the organizers who did a fantastic job pulling it off. I also wanted to thank all of you who took my workshops and listened to my presentation. Everyone was so kind and generous and supportive. It was indeed very touching. The day after SAMA ended I was on a plane to Seattle to teach at Artfest in Port Townsend. It was the usual fantastic event that it is every year. Teesha and Tracy Moore know how to put on a mixed media event that is extraordinary. Everyone who attends loves it and comes back for more the next year. Again, my heartfelt thanks to all of you who took my workshops. You were so nice which made teaching an utter joy. So now we are off to Palm Springs for a little R & R and when I return I will be fully charged and inspired to get back in my studio and get back to some art making!!

Laurie talks about how she started using polymer clay 15 years ago how and it has evolved into an art form she calls Expressive Mosaics. She shows how you can use polymer clay, rubber stamps, collage and assemblage techniques to create your own personal expression. Her new book, Mixed Media Mosaics, will be available on July 1, 2007.
